The Arts Society (TAS) was founded in 1968 to promote and advance aesthetic education, to cultivate the appreciation and study of the decorative and fine arts and by giving aid to the conservation of our national artistic heritage.

TAS Sanderstead is a member society of TAS and we draw our membership from Croydon, Sanderstead and the surrounding districts. We meet at the United Reformed Church Hall on Sanderstead Hill, South Croydon CR2 0HB. Our society meets in the morning on the fourth Tuesday of the month (excepting August and December). These informal occasions open with coffee followed by an illustrated lecture. Days of Special Interest also take place in which subjects are studied in greater depth. Our speakers, who are all experts in their specialist fields, are taken from a directory maintained by TAS.

We organise outings to historical and cultural venues, an annual 4-5 day home, or overseas tour and we enjoy an annual lunch. This programme gives our members many opportunities to catch up with old friends, meet new people and visit new places. You can find out more about all these events in the various sections of our web site.

TAS also works towards supporting the Young Arts, Church Recording and Trails and Heritage Volunteering. We are a friendly group with a membership of 260. We welcome new members and guests may join us for individual lectures, a small fee will be collected at the door.
